Welcome to the Northgate High School Blog. The sole purpose of this blog is to gather information from parents, students, teachers, staff and administrators who would like to share ideas about improving Northgate. The blog will also provide information about MDUSD's, and Northgate's, failure to provide a quality education for our students. If you believe everything is wonderful at Northgate feel free to write that in a post but please understand that this blog is about change. No form of name calling or intimidation will be tolerated, your post will be removed. This is a serious blog for serious people who want to make a difference. Members of the school board view this site, this link can easily be sent to the Superintendent, this is your opportunity to tell them what you think needs to change at Northgate.

No Accountability! Then No Confidence!

We have seen it over and over again and it is getting old. Superintendent McHenry refuses to accept responsibility once again.
What we have at MDUSD is a Superintendent who is not responsible for the inadequate curriculum being taught in the classroom, a Superintendent who is not responsible for allowing an ineffective Principal to remain in place for years, and now a Superintendent who is not responsible for the accuracy of a $300,000,000 budget.

The MDUSD blog is reporting that when questioned about mistakes on the budget, the Superintendent refused to be held accountable for the mistakes. If you want to be an informed member of this district you NEED to hear the audio of Tuesday night's MDUSD Board Meeting.
Hear the audio and read the blog at the MDUSD Blog.

This writer will not be impartial on this topic. It is time for the Superintendent to go. It is time to flood the in-boxes of the three board members who are holding out from asking for Mr. McHenry's resignation. The students in this district deserve more.

http://mdusdparents.blogspot.com for information about the meeting Saturday at Rocco's starting at 9:30am with April Treece and Dick Allen - this is everyone's chance to ask them the tough questions in person. I want to hear their answers. The board is charged with overseeing the district, only 2 of the board members seem to be doing that. What is with these others? I can't wait til they address this head on... (or not)

Thank you for the email addresses. I just sent my email to the three board members in support of Mr. McHenry.

I am happy that the email addresses allowed you to voice your opinion to the Board. I would rather have someone speak up one way or the other, the alternative is to do nothing. I hope that you will think about the issues that effect this district. I encourage you, if you have not already done so, to meet with Mr. McHenry and ask him about these issues. He is a nice man but I believe he does not understand the scope of the problems we face nor does he hold himself responsible, if not him then who? Unfortunately, I am certain in the private sector he would be fired.

I also sent in an email of support for McHenry. I also thanked April Treece for all her work with the business community and being the voice on the board for meaningful skills being taught at our schools so students can go on to work or college. We're lucky to have her. And to Mrs. Mayo for being such an advocate at the state level about these serious state budget issues.

2:14 You are giving credit to the wrong board member for fighting to get career and technical education into our schools. Treece supports it now because it works for her platform.

April Treece has always been a supporter of business and education collaboration. I've talked to her over the years about the importance of our students being prepared for after high school. She has attended business and community functions for years and always speaks passionately about the subject, it's not just for politics - talk to her about it - you'll see what I mean. She works hard to support Principal for A Day and other programs that bring businesses into the schools. They then usually contribute money too once they see all the needs schools have now due to years of budget cuts.

And they all give money to her campaign too. Check it out, you can get copies of them.

April Treece is NOT well liked nor is she respected at my son's elementary school. IN fact, from the discussions I had today she'd probably have a huge entourage of teachers fighting against her re-election in November. She will have an uphill battle. Sometimes you have to take those rose colored glasses off. And you can do good things.. great... I'm glad she does. But there are serious issues that soon are going to overwhelm any good thing she ever did.

I don't care how good we think a board member may be, the bottom line is that the Board is responsible for making sure we have a competent Superintendent. If we don't have a Superintendent who can do the job, and the Board doesn't do anything about it, then the Board isn't doing their job. If we allow the Board to continue to support a Superintendent who is not up to the task then we aren't doing our job as voters. It is as simple as that. We all become accountable at some point.

April Treece gets paid to care about schools. She will run again because her job depends on it. Also, you might go back and find out if April started the career and college program. You might just find out that it was another board member who started that program.

April Treece will not be supported by many groups and individuals, not just a majority of the teachers. If McHenry won't be held accountable to this district then people will look to the enabler. November 4th is it? Remember to Vote!
