Northgate Community Has a Voice for Change
Welcome to the Northgate High School Blog. The sole purpose of this blog is to gather information from parents, students, teachers, staff and administrators who would like to share ideas about improving Northgate. The blog will also provide information about MDUSD's, and Northgate's, failure to provide a quality education for our students. If you believe everything is wonderful at Northgate feel free to write that in a post but please understand that this blog is about change. No form of name calling or intimidation will be tolerated, your post will be removed. This is a serious blog for serious people who want to make a difference. Members of the school board view this site, this link can easily be sent to the Superintendent, this is your opportunity to tell them what you think needs to change at Northgate.

I would like to see a principal who will:
Develop an open and transparent relationship with the Northgate community.
Be able to motivate teachers.
Address issues about Drugs and Alcohol at Northgate.
Be proactive not just reactive.
I only want one thing... a great Leader -
A Principal is essential figure in shaping the direction and culture of a school and its community.
Leadership must be a Principal's greatest quality.
A Leader will be able to look at the big picture and be a conceptual thinker, they will have a clear vision for Northgate and that vision should be the driving force behind many of the decisions that are made day to day.
The primary mission of this vision, above all else, should be to make a difference in the lives of the students.
A leader will understand that changing a culture means changing what people value and how they work together to accomplish it.
A Leader will bring energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration to the staff, teachers, and ultimately the students.
A Leader will have standards that they uphold themselves and expect from their staff, teachers, and students.
A Leader will possess the ability, and the desire, to help others lead within the school community.
A good Leader will take risks. A good educator asks our children to take risks every day in the classroom.
A Leader who takes risks builds credibility and trust.
"A Leader will bring energy, enthusiasm, and inspiration to the staff, teachers, and ultimately the students."
The best leader in the world will have a difficult time fulfilling this expectation when teachers lack sufficient health insurance coverage! Teachers aren't just leaving on a whim!
Exiting MDUSD/NORTHGATE Teacher
NG needs a Principal who will be strong enough to stand up for what is right for Northgate and this may mean fight for us at the district. Be inventive, gather support through the parents and teachers. This made success easier because the district did not want to go public when we had the facts and the support. I did this at another school and we built a beautiful functional technical system. If you can't go thru the district go around, You must be strong and believe in your fight. This can be done. We had a principal who believed they could do this for us and we were all stronger for this. Not the best way. But the school got what it needed and it lives today. Times call for creative ideas before we can change the board that is set until they retire. We need to find that person!
exiting teacher- bye, bye. We do not need that attitude, you work for us! People all over America are dealing with lack of health insurance. Try working in a real world corporation and see your benefits and raises dwindle from year to year. I am tired of everyone walking on eggshells around teachers. No one else gets tenure after 2 years of a job, no one else gets the summer off to vacation. No one else takes multiple days off to leave our kids with subs that are inadequately prepared. Work in the real world and you will be wishing you never quit MDUSD.You have no idea of the sacrifices parents make to keep one parent at home, to home school the stuff you are not teaching our kids because you are so busy whining! Teach or get off the proverbial pot!
